A Strong Border
Shouldn't mean
a weaker Miami.

We voted for strong borders and the deportation of violent criminals. But what we're seeing is undocumented residents who have proven to be decent, contributing members of the Miami community for many years being arrested, detained and deported.

60% of Miami residents oppose arresting or detaining undocumented immigrants who have no criminal record.

Across political lines, most of us believe the same thing: our city is safer and stronger when good, law-abiding people can live without fear. They build our homes, clean our offices, care for our children, and serve our elderly. They pay taxes, volunteer in churches and schools, and contribute to the city we love.
Miami is weaker, more divided, and less safe without them.

Miami has joined the federal 287(g) program, using local officers to enforce immigration law. ICE is deputizing our officers and shifting local resources away from neighborhood policing. If this is not what Miami wants, why is it happening — and who is making that choice for us?
